Here you will find updates on Eastbourne Bandstand during 2026

Pre-opening Tour

With a decision having been taken to re-open the Bandstand for the 2026 season (see the 2025 updates) the MCA were invited to tour the site once any safety concerns had been addressed and prior to it opening to the public. So it was, on a breezy but sunny day towards the end of April, that three of us met with representatives of the Seafront Executive Board and the contractor and we all donned hard-hats.

In summary, extensive work has taken place to prepare the site for events this season, albeit with significantly limited capacity over its former glory days. Balancing which areas are safe to open, to what degree, and with what crowd control, all while access for further investigative studies can be maintained, is not an exact science but the precautionary approach being taken is unlikely to receive serious criticism. Much loved events such as the many tribute bands and also the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day Eastbourne Silver Band concerts look set to be accommodated on the stage once more.

“The Bandstand is the most recognisable of the seafront assets, all of which contribute to the town’s identity, and its continued operation is important to myself and members of the MCA. So much so that I have offered to contribute my time and knowledge to the Eastbourne Seafront Board such that what is good is preserved and the whole is enhanced so that the seafront becomes the best it can be.” – Mitch Peacock, Chair of MCA

Our wonderful photographer, Chris Neighbour, was not on hand during the tour, however we did manage to grab a few shots from behind the hoardings.
